What is D27 Hunebed?
The D27 hunebed is part of a network of ancient stone burial monuments called hunebedden, built by the Funnel Beaker Culture around 3400–2850 BC. These structures were made using massive glacial boulders, some weighing up to 20 tons, arranged to form chambers where the dead were buried alongside pottery and tools.
D27 is the largest of them all, measuring nearly 23 meters in length and still retaining 26 of its original stones, including 9 capstones. It’s an extraordinary example of Neolithic engineering and spiritual tradition.
