This magnificent neo-Gothic church at Tibidabo was designed by Enric Sagnier, a renowned Catalan architect, and was later completed by his son, Josep Maria Sagnier i Vidal. Built between 1902 and 1961, the church is one of Barcelona’s most striking religious landmarks.

At the very top of the Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus stands the monumental bronze statue of Christ, which was created by sculptor Josep Miret. The statue, with its arms open wide, is reminiscent of Rio de Janeiro’s Christ the Redeemer and symbolizes peace and protection over the city.
Visitors can take an elevator to the upper terraces for some of the best panoramic views in Barcelona.

The interior of the Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is just as breathtaking as its exterior. It features:
- Magnificent Mosaics: Vibrant depictions of religious scenes that cover the apse.
- Stunning Stained Glass Windows: Casting colorful light throughout the space.
- Two-Level Structure: A lower crypt and the main church above, each with unique architectural details.
- Intricate Sculptures & Altars: Beautiful carvings and religious iconography that add to the church’s grandeur.

Did You Know? The Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus at Tibidabo was inspired by the Sacré-Cœur Basilica in Montmartre, Paris. The resemblance is seen in its elevated location, white stone facade, and architectural style.
