Labiomista: A Beautiful Park Full Of Art

Labiomista is a museum of modern art located on the foundations of the former zoo of Zwartberg in Genk. The museum is an evolving work of art that takes you into the unique vision of artist Koen Vanmechelen about identity, fertility and biocultural diversity.

In the 24-hectare park you walk past works of arts, aviaries, installations and animals. The 1,7 km long walk is nicely mapped out and the domain is also fun for children to discover.

The Magnificent Sint-Anna Tunnel in Antwerp

The St Anna Tunnel is located in Antwerp beneath the Scheldt River, it connects the newer part of the city with the older part. The tunnel was constructed between 1931 and 1933, it can only be used by pedestrians and cyclists.

Originally there were plans to build a bridge over the river. But this would have hindered the many ships sailing the waterway. Eventually in 1931 a decision was made in favour of a tunnel.

The St. Anna Tunnel is 572 m long and is located at a depth of 31.57m (103.57612 feet). The beautiful wooden staircase and escalator, which date back to 1931, are still very much in use. Since 1997, the tunnel, staircase and buildings are listed as a protected monument. When visiting Antwerp, don't forget to pay a visit to this special tunnel.

Pakawi Park on a Sunny Day

Pakawi Park, previously known as Olmen Zoo, is a great place to visit on a sunny day. You can see the animals up close and take beautiful pictures. The zoo is not very big, so you can take your time to see all the animals and let the children have fun in the playground.

Recently a new tiger enclosure was inaugurated in Pakawi Park. In de coming years, the zoo plans to gradually renovate a number of animal enclosures. Next on the list is the new monkey island for the chimpanzees.

The Waterfalls of Coo

The Waterfalls of Coo are the most famous waterfalls in Belgium. With a height of 15 metres it's not the most impressive waterfall in Europe, but it remains a great stopover in the Belgian Ardennes.

You can go down to a small viewing platform and have a closer look at the watervall or let the children paddle safely in the Amblève river on a sunny day. The best views of the Coo Waterfalls are from the small amusement park located next to it. Coo also has some nice walking routes or you can enjoy one of the cozy restaurants.

La Roche-en-Ardenne is located in the heart of the Belgian Ardennes in the valley of the river Ourthe. The village is popular with tourists because of the wide variety of activities you can find in the area. Sports enthusiasts visit la Roche-en-Ardenne for kayaking, mountain biking and hiking. Nearby you can also find Parc Gibier, a wildlife park with mostly local wildlife. A visit to the feudal castle which overlooks the charming town of La Roche-en-Ardenne is also highly recommended. The ruins of this medieval castle date back to the 11th, 12th and 13th centuries.
