A Unique Site at the Rugged Coast of Brittany

The Sculptured Rocks of Rothéneuf is a hidden gem located 5 km from St. Malo in Brittany. They were created by Abbé Adolphe-Julien Fouré at the end of the 19th century. This priest of Rothéneuf suffered a stroke at the age of 55, which left him both deaf and mute. He spend the last 15 years of his life shaping the granite to create these masterpieces at the rugged coast.

Abbé Adolphe-Julien Fouré took his inspiration from various sources like religious myths or pagan legends and tales. He created more than 300 statues, some of which are now heavily affected by erosion. If you wish to visit the site, keep in mind that it is completely rugged and natural with no walkways or barriers.

Museum Of Original Figurines in Brussels

Located in the Horta Gallery in Brussels, the Museum of Original Figurines (MOOF) has one of the largest collections of comic book memorabilia you've ever seen. The largest part of the collection consists of Belgian comic book heroes like Tintin, Spirou, Lucky Luke or The Smurfs. Nevertheless you can also find here American Superheroes like Batman and Superman or Japanese manga. 

A visit to the Museum of Original Figurines takes about an hour, in the shop at the end of the tour you will find some beautiful souvenirs.

Museum of Technology and Transport in Szczecin

The Museum of Technology and Transport in Szczecin, Poland, houses an impressive collection of nearly 750 exhibits. It was established in January 2006 and is located in the Niebuszewo district, in an old tram depot. The most remarkable acquisition of the Museum is the 100-piece collection of Leszek Liszewski, dedicated mainly to the Polish automotive industry. 

The collection of the museum features trams, buses, motorcycles, computers, sewing machines, telephones and many more. It also has famous cars on display like the Stoewer, Fiat 125p, Syrena, Warszawa and other Polish car brands.

Visit the Whole of Europe in Mini Europe

Mini Europe takes you on a journey through the 27 member states of the European Union and the United Kingdom. This park in Brussels at the foot of The Atomium has 350 monuments on display that have been recreated in great detail at 1/25 scale. 

The monuments have been selected for their architectural quality or their European symbolic value. During a 2 hour walk you can discover the 28 countries and their historical, architectural and cultural riches. Kids will have a great time making the interactive animations work, they can make the Vesuvius erupt, spin the windmills of Kinderdijk, or have a legion attack.

The Crooked Forest in Poland

The Crooked Forest in Poland is located in Gryfino, close to the border with Germany. The forest is a natural monument and consists of 50 unusual shaped pine trees. 

There are several theories about how the forest was created. As you can see, around the crooked pine trees are normal shaped trees growing. The most obvious is that the crooked trees were formed in this way for the construction of boats, barrels, furniture or decoration. 

These pine trees were probably planted in 1934 and cover an area of 0,3 ha. At one point, there were many more characteristically shaped pines. As part of the agreement between the Gryfino Commune, Polska Grupa Energetyczna and the State Forests, the Crooked forest will soon be revitalized. An attempt will also be made to increase the Crooked Forest through replacement plantings. The protection of the pine trees will be increased and their form of visiting will be adapted to the growing tourist traffic.

See Masterpieces In The Saint Peter's Church In Leuven

The St. Peters's Church is located in the heart of Leuven and dates back to the 15th century. The church stands out for the unfinished towers that could not be built higher due to the unstable ground. 

Inside the building are some beautiful masterpieces to discover, such as the Last Supper and the Martyrdom of St Erasmus by Dirk Bouts and the impressive pulpit by Bergé. This pulpit shows a life-size representation of Norbert of Xanten falling from a horse. 

Some part of the St. Peters's Church are part of M-Museum Leuven. The impressive choir and ambulatory of the church were transformed into the M-Treasury of Saint Peter’s. This M-Treasury features a number of stunning examples of religious metalwork.

Lourtuais Beach, A Hidden Paradise in Erquy

Lourtuais beach is located in Erquy, the Côtes-d'Armor region in Brittany. It is the perfect place to enjoy nature and go for a swim in a great location. The beach is enclosed by beautiful rocks, the water has a fantastic turquoise color and the fine white sand is wonderful to walk on. 

Around 20 beaches stretch along the coastline here, so Lourtuais beach is not so crowded during the summer months. You can park your car in the parking lot on Rue de Lourtuais, Erquy. From here it is about 800 meters to the beach, just follow the signs.
