Château de La Hulpe & Domaine Solvay

In the rolling hills of Wallonia, just outside Brussels, the Château de La Hulpe rises like something from a storybook. Built in 1842 in elegant French style by the Marquis of Béthune, this fairytale castle is surrounded by the Domaine Solvay, a breathtaking 227-hectare park that’s a paradise for walkers, photographers, and nature lovers.

A Touch of History

The château’s history is as rich as its architecture. In 1893, the estate was purchased by Count Ernest Solvay, the famous Belgian industrialist. His grandson, Ernest-John Solvay, later gifted the property to the Belgian state in 1968. While the castle itself is not open to the public, it can be rented for private events, giving it an air of exclusivity.
