Have a Picnic in a Cozy Cocoon

Designed by artist Will Beckers, Corpus invites you for a picnic in an unique location. The installation consists of thousand metal plates and wooden branches. Inside Corpus you sit wonderfully together in a cozy cocoon that blends in its surroundings.

Will Beckers: "A multitude of green trees grow between the metal elements. These plants manifest themselves between and over the metal elements and thus form a natural green forest room. This green skin gives an extra dimension to the concept of CORPUS, it embodies an unpredictable future. The dimension Time will find a balance between the presence of greenery and sculpture. "

The monumental organically shaped work is located in an open circular space in the forest of Kattevennen in Genk. This is also one of the six entrance gates to the National Park of Belgium.

Handeckfall Suspension Bridge in Guttannen

Located next to the Gelmerbahn, the Handeckfall Bridge in Guttannen connects the funicular with Hotel Handeck. The suspension bridge offers beautiful views of the Handeck waterfall, which cascades 45 meters down into the Aare Gorge. This impressive natural feature lies on the River Aare, creating beautiful sights as you cross the bridge.

The Handeckfall Bridge itself is a modern suspension bridge, supported by cables suspended between towers. It spans a length of 70 meters (about 230 feet) and is positioned 6 meters (about 20 feet) above the gorge, providing visitors with an exhilarating experience as they walk across and feel the gentle sway beneath their feet.

In addition to its striking design, the Handeckfall Bridge is also part of a larger network of trails in the Grimsel Pass area, a region celebrated for its pristine natural beauty. The area is rich with alpine meadows, glacial lakes, and rugged mountain peaks, offering countless opportunities for exploration. The bridge adds a modern touch to this untouched landscape.

Gelmersee: a Glacial Lake in Switzerland

The Gelmersee is a hydroelectric reservoir located in the Bernese Oberland region in Switzerland. This beautiful turquoise colored lake is surrounded by snow-capped peaks and colorful wild flowers. Gelmersee lies at 1,850 m (6,070 ft) above sea level, it can be reached by a trail going up the mountain or the by famous Gelmerbahn. This is the second steepest funicular in the world and has an maximum inclination of 106%.

Around the lake is a 4,5 km long trail which you can follow, the walk takes approximately two hours. It's possible to do the hike with children, however it's not suitable for a stroller.

A Stop at Eismeer Station on the way to Jungfraujoch

The Eismeer Station is an underground train station on the Jungfrau Railway, which connects Kleine Scheidegg to Jungfraujoch. At the Eismeer Station you can leave the train for 5 minutes and admire the beautiful view of the Ischmeer glacier (Swiss German for Ice Sea). The station lies at 3160m (10368ft) above sea level and is the second highest railway station in Europe. You can find here various viewing windows carved out of the rock face, so passengers can take their own pictures of the glacier.

Remember that the train only stops for 5 minutes and that you're not allowed to stay at the station. You have to reboard the same train and continue you're journey to Jungfraujoch, Top of Europe.
