The history of the hermitage dates back to 1672, when Lambert Hoelen the first hermit, stayed in Loreto, Italy. During his stay in the pilgrimage house in Loreto he was so impressed by the simplicity of this sacred house that he wanted to recreate it himself when he returned home. Today the hermitage is still inhabited and the Chapel of Our Lady of Loreto is open for public.
