Disneyland Hotel in Paris

The Disneyland Hotel in Paris is a 5-star luxury hotel located right at the entrance to Disneyland Park. This beautiful Victorian-inspired hotel offers fairy tale themed rooms, a heated indoor pool, garden and terrace. At certain times you can also meet Disney characters here.

A huge benefit of the Disneyland Hotel is that the entrance and ticket booths are under the building. Because of this you can have a great advantage when using the extra magic time. This means you can enjoy attractions before the official opening times when not many people are in the park yet. A disadvantage is that the Disneyland Hotel is the most expensive option of all hotels in Disneyland.

The Maiden's Tower in Zichem

The Maiden's Tower (Maagdentoren) in Zichem was built at the end of the 14th century by Reinier II van Schoonvorst. Until now it's unclear what the exact function of the tower was. It could have been a defense tower or a residential tower.

The tower was given many names over the centuries. Marientoren is mentioned in the oldest written source, but also Markentoren and Lanteerntoren. Maiden's Tower is most often used. According to many, this name hides the tragic story of the lord's daughter, who was locked up in the tower by her father because she refused to marry the man he had chosen for her.

The Maiden's Tower became a protected monument in 1962. In 2006, a part of the wall collapsed and the tower was left in very poor condition. After major renovations the Maiden's Tower was openend again in 2015. On the top is now a viewing deck which offers a panoramic view of the area.

Big Thunder Mountain: A Ride for Thrill Seekers

Big Thunder Mountain in Disneyland Paris is one of the top rides of the park. This mine train rollercoaster is located on an island in the middle of the lake in Frontierland. The rocky island was inspired by Monument Valley in Arizona and the natural arches of the Zion National Park.

Guests board the trains on the mainland, after leaving the station, the train dives into the underwater tunnels over to the island. The rollercoaster reaches a maximum speed of 58 km/h (36 mph) and takes around 3:56 minutes, height requirements are 102 cm (40").
