Château de Raray

Situated at 45 minutes from Paris, Château de Raray dates back to the 17 century. The two long balustrades are the castle's most famous architectural elements. Their sculptures are largely inspired by hunting, antiquity and are most likely created by Florentine artists. In 1945, Château de Raray served as the location of some scenes from the movie Beauty and the Beast by Jean Cocteau. Since 1924, the building is listed as a Historic Monument.

Memorial Park WWI Halen, Battle of the Silver Helmets

Each of the 44 helmets were decorated by a Limburg municipality and brought back together to create this exhibition Limburg 1914-1918. They show very different and varied perspectives on the theme of war and memory. At the memorial park are information boards with more background information about the helmets.

In the future the creations on the helmets will fade and nature will incorporate the helmets into the landscape. Such as dolmen and menhirs that are overgrown with moss and grass. These faded helmets symbolize the returned soldiers who tried to reintegrate into society.

Helsheaven: A Floating Chapel

Located at the highest point in Helshoven, this floating chapel is the new attraction in the Haspengouw region in Belgium. Artist Frits Jeuris created the chapel from cherry trees. These trees fell prey to the Little Cherry Virus that causes too small fruits. Through this artwork they are given a second life and symbolize the dynamic landscape of Haspengouw.
